      • How do I know? I usually see a final painting and then sketch it out. After that I think about whether I want to invest the time and energy and risk messing up this beautiful final product. Usually, I fluctuate for weeks, rehearsing each stroke of the brush or palette knife and then at some point if I have to paint it, I whip out my canvas and crayons and start transferring the sketch.
