Painting the space between here and way over there

Looking strictly at the visual aspect of the image, this piece has so much to look at besides the obvious…those two characters with a baseball bat for instance…or the classic, but certainly not the most attractive automobile.  It’s one of those images that likes being viewed from a distance, across the room or down the hall, because the viewer can distinguish the planes of distance from the foreground, the clear water where the rocks of the little pier are so brightly reflected, far back to beyond the trees in shadow to the light blue sky.  In the Shadow Under the Bridge, 2015, oil on canvas, 30″ x 40″.  What’s the story here?  Nature is on one side, highlighted by strong sunlight juxtaposed against man and his machines…a car and a baseball bat in the shadow of a bridge
